Vocational Education and Training (VET)
What is Vocational Education and Training (VET)?

Vocational Education and Training (also known as VET) is education and training designed to prepare you for work. It can also help to improve the knowledge and skills of people already working.

VET includes both occupation-based training (for example, traditional apprenticeships such as cabinet making and boiler making) and industry-wide training (for example, broad-based metals modules and office skills modules). It also includes general employment skills such as communication and occupational health and safety.

Who can undertake VET?

You can begin to undertake Vocational Education and Training in year 10 at high school. VET can also be undertaken by those already working in industry or those wishing to enter the workforce. The Flexible Learning Centre Network is a Registered Training Organisation that caters mainly for high school learners but also has a branch that caters for those working in the education industry. The qualifications that are offered at the Flexible Learning Centre Network range from certificate 1 up to certificate 4 level and are recognised across Australia.
